Prescriptions tie diagnoses to treatment. Write, issue, track dispensing, and maintain a complete medication history for each patient.
Step 1 — Open the patient’s prescriptions
Navigate to Diagnostics → Patients. Click a patient and then click the Prescriptions tab.
Step 2 — Create a new prescription
Click Add Prescription. Fill in:
- Medication: Select from the pharmacy inventory (or add a new drug).
- Dosage: Strength and form (e.g., 500mg tablet).
- Frequency: How often (e.g., twice daily).
- Duration: How long to take (e.g., 14 days).
- Instructions: Special notes (e.g., “take with food”).
Step 3 — Issue the prescription
Click Issue. The prescription is now active and can be printed or sent to a pharmacy. A barcode is generated for tracking.
Step 4 — Record fulfillment and dispensing
When the patient fills the prescription at your pharmacy, click Dispense. Log:
- Quantity dispensed: How many units.
- Pharmacist name: Who filled it.
- Date of dispensing: When it was provided.
